The badge on the product page
The badge shows your buyers before they buy that a battery passport exists, and links it. It appears only for products with a published passport and only once per page.
Produktpass helps you with the battery passport and the battery QR code under Regulation (EU) 2023/1542. The plugin's texts, templates and notes are not legal advice. You remain responsible for your duties and for the accuracy of your data. For a binding answer on your own case, ask a lawyer.
Classic themes such as Storefront
In classic themes you choose under “Settings > Position of the passport badge in classic themes”:
- “After the product meta (default)”,
- “After the price”,
- “After the add-to-cart button”,
- a tab of its own next to the description,
- “Off”: then you place the block or the shortcode yourself.
If your theme does not output the chosen position, the badge check says so; then choose another position or the shortcode.
Block themes such as Twenty Twenty-Five
In block themes the plugin inserts the block “Battery passport badge” after the product meta, that is after the block woocommerce/product-meta in the single product template. In the Site Editor (Appearance > Editor > Templates) you move or remove it like any other block.
The setting “Position of the passport badge in block themes” offers the block after the product meta (default), a tab of its own and “Off”. It governs only the automatic insertion: a block you placed in the template yourself always shows.
Shortcode and block elsewhere
Everywhere else you place the block “Battery passport badge” or the shortcode [produktpass_badge]. On a product page and in a product list it takes the current product; elsewhere you name it with product="ID", such as [produktpass_badge product="123"].
Block, shortcode and the chosen position together still show the badge only once per product and page. Up to about 39,000 published passports a product page without a passport costs no extra database query; above that every product page reads its passports with one query.
Variations
For variable products the badge first shows the parent product's passport. When the buyer chooses a variation with a passport of its own, a small script swaps only the link. Without JavaScript the link to the parent's passport stays.
The badge check
“Check the badge on a product page” in the settings and the nightly work request a product page with a published passport from your server and look for the badge. If it is missing, the screen says “Badge not visible: your theme does not output the chosen position.” with the way to fix it.
If the page still shows the badge at the old position, a page cache may hold an old copy: empty it and check again. While the shop is not live under “WooCommerce > Settings > Site visibility”, visitors see no product pages; the check then asks you to launch the shop.
