Installing a JTL-Shop plugin: My purchases, licence, activation

You install a plugin for JTL-Shop 5 in the backend under “Plug-ins > My purchases”: link the purchase with the shop, click “Install”, done. It then sits under “Plug-ins > Installed plug-ins”, and when a licence ends the rules below apply.

Kaufquelle and Produktpass run on JTL-Shop 5.6 to 5.8

Kaufquelle and Produktpass run on JTL-Shop 5.6, 5.7 and 5.8 and PHP 8.2 to 8.4; JTL-Shop 5.7 and 5.8 run only on PHP 8.3 or newer. Both work with the NOVA template or a child template of NOVA; for other templates Kaufquelle offers the insertion method “CSS selector”.

You see your shop's version in the backend; your host names the PHP version. Make a backup of the database and the files before every installation; that is a good habit with every change to the shop.

The test licence runs for 14 days

Plugins are bought in the JTL Extension Store or tried with a test licence. Our plugins offer a 14-day test licence. Afterwards you link the purchase with your shop, so that the shop knows the licence.

Installing takes three clicks

The installation itself takes only a few clicks:

1. In your shop's backend, open “Plug-ins > My purchases” and link the purchase with your shop.

2. Click “Install” there next to the plugin.

3. After installing, you find the plugin under “Plug-ins > Installed plug-ins”, for example under “Plug-ins > Installed plug-ins > Kaufquelle”.

After the installation a plugin is installed but often not set up yet. Kaufquelle, for example, only shows a survey once you have entered the question and the answers in the “Survey” tab and set “Survey active” to “Yes” in the “Settings” tab. Produktpass needs the responsible operator and the contact e-mail address under “Settings” before a passport can be published.

JTL-Shop's cron does the background work

Some plugins do work in the background through JTL-Shop's cron. Produktpass uses it to map values from JTL-Wawi, check the passports every night and work through large imports; hourly is enough. Kaufquelle runs its daily cleanup through the cron. Without the cron, Produktpass offers a button on its pages that does the next step at once.

An active plugin comes back after the renewal

A test licence runs for 14 days; when it ends, JTL-Shop disables the plugin. When a paid licence ends, each plugin behaves in its own way: Kaufquelle no longer shows the survey, while the report and the CSV files stay available. With Produktpass all published passport pages, documents and QR addresses stay available; editing, importing and publishing are locked until you renew.

Keep the plugin active when the licence ends. A plugin you disable with an expired licence is listed by the plug-in manager under “Issues”. This is how you get it back after the renewal: click “disable” in the “Issues” tab, and then enable the plugin in the “Disabled” tab with “Enable”.

Uninstalling deletes the tables by default

In the dialog “Uninstalling the plug-in”, the box “Also delete all plug-in tables from the database” is ticked in advance. With Kaufquelle this default deletes all answers. Produktpass deletes its tables and files only if you waived the backup or exported all passports after the last change, because printed QR codes cannot be called back.

Updates arrive through the JTL Extension Store

You get new versions as an update through the JTL Extension Store; the changelog names the changes. Security updates are released for the newest version of a plugin. If you have questions, you reach our support by e-mail; you get a first answer within two working days.

What Kaufquelle does after the installation is described in Where do my customers come from?; what both plugins store in the shop is in privacy with shop plugins. The detailed guide with every setting is in the help for Kaufquelle and the help for Produktpass.
