Help for Kaufquelle
Installing, setting up, your data and the text for your privacy notice.
Installing
Kaufquelle runs on JTL-Shop 5.6, 5.7 and 5.8 (JTL-Shop 5.7 and 5.8 run only on PHP 8.3 or newer).
- Buy or test Kaufquelle in the JTL Extension Store.
- In your shop's backend, open "Plug-ins > My purchases" and link the purchase with your shop.
- Click "Install" there next to Kaufquelle.
- After installing, you find Kaufquelle under "Plug-ins > Installed plug-ins > Kaufquelle".
Switching the survey on
After installing, Kaufquelle shows no survey yet. This is how you switch it on:
- In the "Survey" tab, enter the question and at least two answers, for every language of your shop. Buyers who order in a language without complete texts do not see the survey; a note at the top of the tab names those languages.
- Save the survey.
- In the "Settings" tab, set "Survey active" to "Yes" and save.
- Place a test order, for example paying in advance: the survey appears on the order confirmation page.
- Answer it. You see your answer in the "Report" tab.
You change the survey's fixed texts (thanks, buttons, the note that it is voluntary) under "Plug-ins > Plug-in manager > Kaufquelle > Language variables".
Where the survey appears: template block or CSS selector
In the "Settings" tab, you choose one of two methods under "Insertion method".
Template block (NOVA)
The default. With the NOVA template or a child template of NOVA, the survey appears above the "Continue shopping" button. If your child template replaces this area of the order confirmation page, the survey does not appear there; then choose the CSS selector.
CSS selector
For other templates. Under "CSS selector" you enter the element of the order confirmation page where the survey should appear, and under "Position relative to the selector" where: before, after, as first child or as last child. The default is .order-completed, after.
A selector consists of element names, #id and .class, joined by spaces or >, for example #content .order-completed. Attributes, pseudo-classes such as :first-child, lists with commas and * are not allowed. The selector must find exactly one element on the page; if it finds none or several, the survey does not appear.
How to find the selector:
- Open the order confirmation page of a test order in your browser.
- Right-click the area next to which the survey should appear, and choose "Inspect".
- In the developer tools, look for an element with an
idor a unique class. - Enter it as the CSS selector and save the settings.
How to check the selector:
- After saving, place a test order.
- Open the "Survey" tab. At the top it says what happened on the last order confirmation page: since when the selector finds its element and the survey is inserted there, since when it finds none or several elements (then the survey does not appear), or that the selector cannot be used.
- If a note reports an error, change the selector and check it with the next test order.
Kaufquelle loads its script and its stylesheet only on the order confirmation page. As with every active plugin with templates of its own, JTL-Shop itself reads the plugin's basic data on every page; Kaufquelle makes no database queries of its own on other pages.
Where the data is and how long it stays
What is stored. For every answer: the chosen answer and the answer to the follow-up question with their labels at the time of the answer, the texts the buyer types for "Other" or into a follow-up question's text field, the times of the answers, the order ID and the order number, the gross order value in the default currency with its code, the order time, customer group and language of the order. For every display of the survey: the same order data and a hash of the key with which only this survey can be answered. Kaufquelle does not ask for names, e-mail addresses or IP addresses and does not store them; if a buyer types them into a text field, the text appears in the report as it is.
Where. In your shop's database, in the tables whose names begin with xplugin_ab_kaufquelle_; the entry about a deletion in the shop's log ("Troubleshooting > Log"). Kaufquelle sends no data to the plugin's provider or to third parties, sets no cookies and stores nothing in your buyers' browsers.
How long.
- Displays without an answer: 30 days.
- Answers: after 24 months the daily cleanup removes the link to the order: the order number, the order ID and the free texts are deleted, and so is the display that belongs to them; the order time and the answer times are cut to the day of the order (without the time of day). So that the report's totals do not change, these stay: the chosen answers with their labels, the gross order value with the currency's code, the day of the order (which then also stands as the time of the answers), customer group and language.
- If an order is deleted through JTL-Wawi, Kaufquelle deletes the answer and its display at once; if an order goes missing from the shop in another way, at the next daily cleanup.
- At a buyer's request, you delete their answer by order number in the "Report" tab (below). The entry in the shop's log with the order number and the admin's name stays for 90 days.
- On uninstalling, the shop deletes the tables if you leave the box "Also delete all plug-in tables from the database" ticked.
Deleting an answer at a buyer's request
If a buyer asks for their data to be deleted or objects to the processing (Art. 17 and Art. 21 GDPR), you delete their answer by order number:
- Look up the buyer's order number, for example in JTL-Wawi.
- Open the "Report" tab in Kaufquelle.
- Under "Delete the answer to an order number", enter the order number exactly as the order shows it (upper and lower case count).
- Confirm the question. Kaufquelle deletes the answer and the display of this order and reports "1 answer deleted."
If there is no answer to the number, Kaufquelle reports that no answer was found and deletes nothing. Every deletion is recorded with the order number and the admin's name in your shop's log ("Troubleshooting > Log").
Text for your privacy notice
Under Art. 13 GDPR you inform your buyers about the purpose, the legal basis, the legitimate interest, the storage period and their rights. This is an English version of the paragraph for your privacy notice; the German original is on the German version of this page. It describes what Kaufquelle stores; whether it is enough for your shop, please clarify with your legal adviser.
Survey after the order. After completing your order, you can voluntarily answer a short question, e.g. how you heard about us. We store your answer together with the order number, order value, order date, customer group and language in our shop database, to evaluate which advertising and information channels lead to orders. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; our legitimate interest is managing our advertising. The data is not passed on to third parties, and no cookies are set. The link to your order is removed after 24 months, or earlier if the order is deleted. You can object to the processing at any time and ask for your answer to be deleted.
The 24 months match the fixed retention in this version of Kaufquelle. If a buyer asks for deletion, delete their answer by order number as described above.
When the licence ends
A test licence runs for 14 days; when it ends, JTL-Shop disables the plugin. When a paid licence ends, the survey no longer appears, and Kaufquelle's tabs show a red note. The report, the CSV files and the survey in the "Survey" tab stay available. After the renewal and JTL-Shop's next licence check, the survey appears again.
Keep the plugin active when the licence ends. If you disable it while the licence has expired, the plug-in manager lists it under "Issues". This is how you get it back after the renewal:
- In the "Issues" tab, click "disable".
- Then enable the plugin in the "Disabled" tab with "Enable".
Do not uninstall the plugin to solve a licence problem. In the dialog "Uninstalling the plug-in", the box "Also delete all plug-in tables from the database" is ticked in advance: with this default, all answers are deleted.
